The Atlanta Constitution reports that a man faces life in prison for a brutal rape in which he used GHB. The victim easily could have died from the GHB, so a life sentence seems like a good call.

A Jackson man faces up to life in prison for raping a Lawrenceville woman during an after-hours event at Zoo Atlanta. Jason Hopson, 23, is scheduled to be sentenced next month for raping a 21-year-old after the two met at a Q100 radio station party at the zoo June 18.
At trial, Hopson claimed the two had consensual sex, but jurors didn't believe him. Fulton County prosecutor Ash Joshi argued that Hopson met the victim and offered her a drink, which he said may have contained the "date rape" drug.
Joshi said the victim began to lose control of her body and remembered being carried away from the party area by the defendant. The victim said she drifted in and out of consciousness while she was being raped at a restricted area behind a McDonald's restaurant at the zoo.
A zoo employee passed by and saw the defendant pulling up his pants and leaving the area, while the victim remained on the ground motionless, Joshi said. The victim remained unconscious and suffered violent convulsions. She was rushed to a hospital emergency room.
While the victim was at the hospital, Atlanta police arrested Hopson, who hadn't left the party.
The heartlessness of these brutal rapists is astonishing. Imagine drugging and viciously raping a woman, then returning to a party as if nothing had happened.

I am the victim in this particular crime...you ask why they did not detect GHB in my blood...I will give you the answer...
I am a nursing student...GHB can be tested by blood however, your best bet for getting an accurate reading is through urine because GHB does not stay in the system but for a very short amount of time. The reason so many people use GHB is because it is virtually undetectable if blood or urine are not taken IMMEDIATELY after consumption. They were not able to get a urine sample because I was in a coma and too brutalized to insert a catheder. Blood work was not taken immediately because they were more concerned about saving my life. Facts that were not listed in the AJC article were things like...CPR was performed 4 times before arriving to the hospital because I quit breathing, I did not have a pulse when they found me.
So make sure you have all of the facts about a case before you jump to conclusions on why certain pieces of evidence were not taken.

Your story is wrong, you seem to have left out a few important things. Hopson did not not leave her after they were done Hopson called for an ambulance for her and waited for the ambulance and police to get their a guilty person would not have done that also she was taking different stuff that night on her own he didnt drug her. The rape it disappered why do you think that is, u peope are so blind to fulton county DAs and many other governmet employees in the court systems dirtiness. If you look now youll see he is under investigation for other cases of the wrongly convicted the truth will come out Jason Hopson was convicted because it was a public event and if he was set free then it would look as of people where not doing their jobs in keeping the city safe. I'm Jason's sister! I was there heard both sides of the story! This was not a rape case! All this is someone had to much to drink, did something they regreted. Instead of being a responsible adult and dealing with her bad decision she took the easy way out and yelled Rape! It's very clear she still does not understand what she has caused to happened to Jason and his family! But there is one good thing about this!!!!! Jason sits in prison with a clear conscious, he may be locked up and she's free in this world but' not with a clear conscious!!!!!! Thats a BIG differance!!! I pray that it gets to her and she won't be able to live with it!!! You know GOD don't like ugly!! This has not only affected Jason's life!! It has affected our whole family! My kids whom Jason was apart of their lives everyday, cry because they are'nt aloud to see him! GOD is good though!!! Jason gets a visit EVERY weekend. God always provides a way to make it happen! I can not believe some of the things that are being said here... People are not convicted of rape for no reason. Evidence always tells the story. This guy is where he deserves to be and how appropriate that the family comes to the rescue here because of course you are going to believe your own family over a stranger. Some of the people who get caught for violent crimes would have never been suspected of being "that person" by their neighbors, friends, or family members. None of you were there, none of you were a part of this crime, and none of you can speak with 100% certainity about things that you did not witness yourselves. Evil exists in this world and my heart goes out to this girl for having to deal with you people throughout this ordeal.
