Beware of Red Line Energy Drink!

I have copied below a post from my husband's blog detailing a frightening incident we had as a result of a family friend drinking a Red Line energy drink. This is a very dangerous concoction, so please avoid it and caution your friends and family!

A week ago last night, one of my friends drank an energy drink -- Red Line, manufactured by VPX Sports -- and spent the next 24 hours so sick that we were monitoring her carefully in anticipation of having to take her to the emergency room.

Her symptoms, which came on about two and a half hours after she drank a can of the brew, included chills, sweating, diarrhea and vomiting, vomiting, vomiting with deep, racking convulsions that were quite frightening to watch. Fortunately, they died down and she eventually returned to her normal, healthy self.

She is hardly alone in her reaction to this foul concoction. Here's Lynn commenting on HealthBoard message boards:
I dont recommend it to anyone. Seriously, I am not a light weight when it comes to things that amp you. But this one, no, no, no! It made me immediately ill, shaky, chest pain beyond belief, I thought I was going to die. (sweating and chills, through [sic] up 3 times). Outrageous, I wonder how they were able to actually sell it to anybody.

And, 10.5 hrs later???? Still sick and heart pounding out of control.
And here's the quick-typing Sleepy commenting on the site Tell Him Fred:
I have a porblem with redlineenergy drink. i drank the whole can yesterday, after i drank the can about 4 hours later i started getting shakey, then i started to throw up, i couldnt keep food down, rapid heart rate followed, extreme sweating from my body getting overheated, then my left side muscles started to go cold and hurt, I was awake a good part of the night and it was worse than any illegal drug i have ever tried and I’ve been around. Do NOT drink this drink it is bad news and shouldn’t be legal
And, if you want some "expert" opinion, here's a review from Energy Drink Reviews:
Wow, this drink is some serious stuff. I mean about half the bottle is the warning label, and it is serious, this drink is INSANE. It says that you should not drink it unless you are over 18, which I would say is a good warning. This is the first drink that was to much for me. The bottle says warning potent, but I have had every energy drink I could find without a problem. This Redline, made me feel like I was tweaking out hard core, I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I seriously mean I wasn't enjoying the quick happy buzz that you get from most energy drinks. This was a scary my body is going out of control hot and cold sweats, tweaked out. I had the drink at two in the afternoon and I couldn't sleep until 4 am in the morning.
That's from someone who obviously has a lot of experience with these drinks, and considerable resistance to them.

My friend did not follow directions, drinking an entire can -- but what's with putting two "doses" in one can? Every other energy drink comes in a one-serving can.

And what's in the can? Caffeine, Green Tea, Yerba Mate, 5-HTP (5 hydroxy-1-tryptophan), cAMP, Yohimbe, Evodiamine, and Vinpocetine. And a few other things.

I've thought for some time that it's ironic that people like my friend, who are concerned about their health, eating organic foods and shunning tap water, would ever get close to this stuff.

5-HTP? That's an amino acid that's a precursor to the neurotransmitter seratonin. It's in Red Line because of its alleged appetite suppressant characteristics but it also seems to definitely affect the brain chemistry involving mood and depression -- perhaps enhancing feelings -- but what is a compound that messes with brain chemistry doing in an over-the-counter drink?

Plus, it and Vinpocetine can both cause intestinal upset and rapid heartbeat.

Here's some of what Wikipedia has to say about cAMP:

Role of cAMP in human carcinoma

Some research has suggested that a deregulation of cAMP pathways and an aberrant activation of cAMP-controlled genes is linked to the growth of some cancers.[1][2][3]

[edit] Role of cAMP in Prefrontal Cortex Disorders

Recent research may indicate that cAMP affects the function of higher order thinking in the prefrontal cortex through its regulation of ion channels called hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated channels (HCN). When cAMP stimulates the HCN, these gates open, rendering the brain cell closed to communication, thus interfering with prefrontal cortex function. This research is of interest to scientists studying the brain, especially the degradation of higher cognitive function in ADHD and aging.[4]

Again, what's a chemical that messes with brain chemistry doing in an over-the-counter energy drink?

Red Line's attorneys appear to be well aware of the risks of this product. After their intervention, here's the warning label:

WARNING: NOT FOR USE BY INDIVIDUALS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS. DO NOT USE IF PREGNANT OR NURSING. Consult a physician or licensed qualified health care professional before using this product if you have, or have a family history of, heart disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, depression or other psychiatric condition, glaucoma, difficulty in urinating, prostate enlargement, or seizure disorder, or if you are using a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) or any other dietary supplement, prescription drug, or over-the-counter drug containing ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, or phenylpropanolamine (ingredients found in certain allergy, asthma, cough or cold, and weight control products). Do not exceed recommended serving. Exceeding recommended serving may cause adverse health effects. Discontinue use and call a physician or licensed qualified health care professional immediately if you experience rapid heartbeat, dizziness, severe headache, shortness of breath, or other similar symptoms. The consumer assumes total liability if this product is used in a manner inconsistent with label guidelines. Do not use for weight reduction. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
I wrote VPX sports early in the week asking them to explain why they make this product, and why they pack two doses in a can. They have not responded.

I wrote Seven-11 Stores, which is one of the few retail chains that stocks it, and which sold it to my friend, asking them not to stock the drink any more. They have not responded.
Update: VPX called me on 9/18, following up on my email to Seven-11, not my email to them. The man on the phone, while very friendly, defended the drink as appealing to a small market that wanted a substitute for ephedrine, which has been pulled from the market. His reason for calling was because he was required to under FDA regulations, and spend nearly the entire time asking me questions so he could fill out his questionnaire. He did tell me that to his knowledge, no one has died from the drink.
In all the research I've done on this product, including a Nexis media search, I've found no stories by major media outlets on the threat Red Line presents, although I found one story about a similar drink named Spike sent several Denver and Boulder sent several kids to the hospital.

There's something definitely wrong here. VPX is not taking responsibility for its product and is getting away with it. Seven-11 is not taking responsibility for the products it sells and is also getting away with it.

Please pass this along to your kids and/or friends with a warning. Energy drink drinkers, think about going back to good old coffee or black tea and stay away from this junk.

I irresponsibly had 2 of these drinks in about 20 min. Surprised to be alive. No hospitalization but one long f-ing night. Believe totally that if i was in any less of good physical shape i would have crashed and died in a public park, at night, in about 50 degree weather, by myself.

Pretty good article. Nicely written, except for one thing: The directions on the can were not followed. If she had drank the can responsibly, it most likely would not have had negative effects. It stresses that only one-half of the can should be consumed. Also, not all energy drinks come in a one serving can. Actually, not many do. Go to any gas station or convenience store and you will find almost every drink is available in humongous cans. Some can be up to 3 servings per can. I do realize, however, that the creators of Red Line could and should make the warning label much bigger and much more noticeable. Also Wikipedia should not be considered a dependable source. Drink responsibly.

Thank goodness I am apparently not the only one who experienced the horrible side affects of this drink. I drank about two mouth-fulls, not even half the can, and I quite literally thought I was going to have a heart attack and die. I have had a lot of energy drinks, like I am sure most of you have, and this is the worse I have ever felt. I take adderall at a very high dose for ADD (though I had not taken any for an entire week before I drank this crap) and my heart rate was at 150 BPM, and even with all the adderall I have taken, my heart rate has never, ever gotten that high...just be warned. I still feel all cracked out, and it has been 12 hours since I drank it.

Info off Redline's own website:
"This freaky scientific breakthrough is the first physique-transforming matrix to coax your body to burn fat through the “shivering response.” It is a physiological fact that when you shiver, your body releases a large amount of stored body fat in an attempt to bring body temperature back to normal. Redline® induces this effect quite efficiently. However, the power of Redline® does not stop there, as its radical combination of novel ingredients will also have you sweating up a thermogenic storm, and thus burning fat through yet another unique mechanism."

BTW, Lance is right about drinking responsibly. The bottle has warnings all over it. It says in several places that the bottle contains 2 servings. There's even a warning on the top that says that it's 2 servings and tells you to read the warning label before drinking. It's the individual's responsibility to read the labels and drink responsibly.

I have a high tolerance to drugs (including caffeine) and have used plenty of energy drinks before so I suspect that I should be able to handle a whole bottle just fine. 1 bottle contains 250 mg of caffeine, which is about the same as 4 or 5 cups of coffee. Caffeine pills (which I have used before) contain 200 mg each. This stuff is strong. It's intended for the hardcore people who want all that energy and can handle it. I've never tried it before now. I just polished off a bottle. I'll let you know how it goes.

Unknown said...

Okay, so I drank a whole bottle yesterday (2 servings) right after lunch and I was fine. I didn't notice anything weird. My heart rate didn't increase noticeably (I kept checking), I didn't get any shivers, I didn't get any sweats, and I didn't get nauseous or anything.

If you follow the warnings on the bottle, you might be okay drinking this stuff. The bottle warns you not to drink it on an empty stomach. Only start with half a bottle. Don't take with other drugs (it lists several drugs). Don't drink if you're under 18. Don't drink it if you're sensitive to caffeine.

Unless you're looking for something really hardcore, avoid Redline. If you just want some caffeine, but not too much, drink a Red Bull or a Monster.

lancedirk13 said...

Yeah, I actually drank two whole bottles of Redline in a two hour time period. To tell you the truth it didn't affect me too much. But I have built up a super high tolerance for caffeine. This stuff isn't that bad as long as you are careful with it.

Yari said...

Exactly! Follow instructions, drink only half a bottle with a full stomach, I took it at 1:00 PM and I was fine the whole day!! Went through my workout with incredible energy and I was fine the whole day!! I am a woman, weight 140 pounds and believe me this stuff is awesome!!

I drink this particular product on a regular basis (every day) and have never had a problem. I get a pretty strong buzz but nothing like what these other people have claimed. I'm 5'0 and weigh 132 lbs. Like every new product, you should only take the smallest recommended dosage to determine your bodies reaction. Everyones' body chemistry is different.

Hello,

I am a 28 year old, 5'11'', 150lbs, very fit, athletic male who spends at least 1-2 hours in gym 4-5 times a week. I do weight lifting but i don't do very hardcore lifting. I just do it to keep myself in shape and good health.

I have started drinking Redline since two weeks ago. I am very cautious with all the energy drinks and supplements so read the entire warning labels completely before i drank... 15mins after drinking redline for the first time, i felt like SUPERMAN. I was able to push harder than ever, and almost lift a third more than what i used to lift. I was so amazed but at the same timewas conerned about the seriousness of this drink. I noticed my heart beating really fast and wouldn't calm down until 15 mins after finishing workout.

I've been taking half a bottle per serving, on the third day of consuming Redline, I noticed some jitteryness and wasn't able to do small tasks properly like writing with a pen, typing a keyboard, sensitive movements with a mouse, etc.. I was getting worried about the seriousness of this drink and tried gathering some facts online to see if i should keep taking this drink or not. So far, i haven't found any effects other than people posting on blogs here and there complaining about dizzyness, increase of heart beat, nausea, vomitting, shivering, jittery, headaches, sweating, etc.
These effects are serious but I haven't experienced any effects other than increase of heart rate(which is good when im working out), shivering and being jittery. But then, it says that this product makes you lose weight by making your body shiver.. I agree with what's written here about the drink containing chemicals that messes around with your brain chemicals can not be a good thing to be sold over the counter, but so far, this drink has only been good to me. I was able to focus better, push harder than ever, gave me steady energy after a tiring day at work with no crash and burn... Also in just a few days, i noticed significant body fat loss and yet increased my appetite. I lost about 5lbs in just 4 days. So i keep taking this drink but am very careful with it. Never drink more than i need. I actually cut down, i'm drinking 1/3 of a bottle per serving and yet it still gives me very same effect as drinking half a bottle. Cutting down also got rid of the jitteryness. I'm still online searching daily on if there're any new articles out there on side effects of this drink other than what i mentioned above or any studies are out there but none has yet to be found.

I also noticed a pattern in alot of the side effect complaint posts. It seems like the people that are having the worst side effecs such as blacking out, vomitting, headaches, nausea, etc are people that are drinking Redline to socialize, be more productive at work, chill, or drink more than suggested, are the ones that are experiencing the worst side effects.

From my point of view, i think this drink is a killer for people that are healthy, in shape, push heavy lifts, that are trying to gain mass, need to energy, and to cut body fat at the same time.

From what i've read from hundreds of posts, i would not recommend this drink as a replacement for redbull or other energy drinks to get more energy for work, hanging out, or stay awake, etc.

thirdmotion said...

To add to my post above, eventhough i would recommend this drink to someone healthy and in good shape that wants to push harder, i would also warn them about the seriousness and never to take more than what's needed or the recommended serving dosage and to be careful...

I drink two bottles (four servings) of RedLine before my leg workouts.
I guess its effects vary depending on your health & fitness levels.

Wellington teen dies after consuming alcohol, energy drinks

By Leon Fooksman, Luis F. Perez and Lia Lehrer | South Florida Sun-Sentinel

A 16-year-old Wellington student died over the weekend after attending a party where alcohol was consumed, Palm Beach County sheriff's investigators said...

...In March, paramedics took four Weston schoolboys to a hospital after they became ill from drinking an "energy-boosting" liquid not meant for children, authorities said. The boys were sweating and suffering from increased heart rates and lightheadedness. They drank Redline, a combination fat-burning and energy enhancement drink marketed as a "freaky scientific" breakthrough on the Web site of the company that makes it.

Why would you take two servings of something you have never tried before??? DO one serving. I take this and absolutely love it. No problems at all, but I only take one serving.

Lz_erk said...

Thanks for the advice to only consume one serving when I try this one (which, I hope, will be soon!).

I noticed that this drink contains 100% (x2) the RDA for Vitamin C. This is very unwise of VPX Sports; Vitamin C causes diarrhea. In everyone. In myself, 200% the RDA is all that is required for a couple hours worth of debilitating abdominal cramps (5'9, 120 lbs). I imagine, UNPROFESSIONALLY, that this drink COULD be fatal to extremely anorexic persons. It should be consumed responsibly by non-pregnant adults of reasonably sound physical and mental condition.

I have read so much on here that I find misinformed, and personally distasteful: "what is a compound that messes with brain chemistry doing in an over-the-counter drink?"

SUGAR is arguably a compound that messes with brain chemistry (although usually in a beneficial way)!

I would have no problem with energy drinks being age-restricted, or age-resitricted with guardian supervision (like R-rated movies), but please try to put the difficulties behind you, and don't hurt something that helps others.

I experience painful, distruptive effects from any food containing uncooked plant matter, but I'm not going to call grocery stores and ask them to take salads off their shelves...

You people are stupid.
You drank the entire can the first time you got it and you wonder why your dumb ass's got sick.
It says on the bottle to only drink, at the most, half the first time you try it.
I hate stupid people that can't follow simple directions, then want to put the blame on someone else.

This entire entry was written to prove that your friend was a victim of her own failure to follow instructions provided to her? Because I don't see any other logical claim in the post. That two servings in a can was the most ridiculous argument of them all, you might as well have a friend that overdosed on over-the-counter pain medication because there were 60 tablets in a bottle and though the instruction says to take no more than 6 in a 24 hour period, she thought "ah well, can't kill me"...

this is almost embarrassing. stop bugging the company who made it or 7-11 for selling it because you are almost too stupid to deserve to live. (=

I've taken redline and it does increase your heart rate. However, so does N.O. Explode and other weight lifting drinks. Bottomline, if you are going to take an energy drink, be sure you are going to work out! Many people take energy drinks to feel alert which is wrong to begin with. You suppose to go to the gym and not to Mall or fast food restaurants. Also, please read the contents and directions on how much you can take. Remember, high energy drinks are for people that work out. If you are extremely fat, you have plenty of energy to burn out...

the side affects of making you cold and shaky are supposed to happen it is a fat burner drink also and not being able to keep food down then you should have not drank it on an empty stomach then it wouldn't have been a problem i had an hour of sleep had to get up and work an 11 hour shift i ate and slammed 2 of the drinks and i was shaky yes but i was off the wall and able to do my job fine and most definitely did not feel like i was going to die i am still up from it though and i took it at 7:30 pm yesterday and it is now 11:30 am the people who made this knew exactly what they were doing and anyone who bad mouths this drink is an idiot and either didn't use it correctly or doesn't know what this drink is supposed to do

Like the others have said you need to drink HALF of it on a full stomach and it even says on the bottle not to drink the whole thing, that drinking the whole bottle is dangerous. I have used them for a few weeks and i and doing fine havent had any side effects and helps me with my work outs. All you gotta do is follow the instructions on the bottle and you will ok

Dan from Ohio here...I've been dealing with a weight issue for a long time. I'm not a tubby guy just have a belly from computer programming during the last winter.

Today I took one teaspoon of the Redline Syrup aqnd let me tell you what....

This stuff should not be taken if you are going to be sitting still programming at a computer.

With-in 30 minutes I felt a little hungry so I grabbed a salad and tossed a can of salmon on it....then as I was making my salad it hit me....

I felt as if my skin was crawling, like a junkie needing a fix...As a matter of fact I was twitching so bad....my eyeballs were twitching as well...then I started to sweat and twitch at the same time....thus causing a major panic attack....

I found myself stripping off my shirt and running around my house like a crazy man not knowing where to run too...I thought my life was over...and my family was going to find me face down in my back yard 1/2 naked!

I continued to run laps in my back yard for 25 minutes while pouring cold water over my head....my wife noticed that I was freaking out so bad that she rushed a .5 zanax to me to help calm me down...

I should have known better because I've been known to be super sensitive to diet products...I get panic attacks...

Anyways...my skin is still crawling and it only took me about 30 seconds to write this because my energy levels are skyrocketing....

I just thank god that it didn't kill me like I for sure thought it was going to ....

My best suggestion is to only take this stuff in small quantities unless you're a maniac or speed demon...and stay 100% away from this stuff if you are an easy target for panic attacks....

If you read no other comment please read this one. This entergy drink comes in 3 forms that I know of, all of which are addictive. Redline has an ingredient called hemp. This is also found in cocaine. I currently have a friend who is addicted. Everytime he tries to stop drinking it he goes through the same types of withdrawals had he been addicted to any other drug.

Charles said...

Hemp is not found in cocaine and it is not in Redline either!

So:

1. Your friend failed to read and follow the directions on her medical suppliment drink (Which cover almost 80% of the can)

2. No one has ever died from this drink (As far as anyone can tell)

Why would you want to ban it from the market then? Because your friend has a problem abusing medications? Perhaps you should work on banning Advil first.... when people abuse THAT they actually CAN die.

Red Line energy drink is very potent drink, that needs a channel to let out the energy. If you are a few pounds overweight and are in good health, and need to loose some weight, drink Red Line prior to a rigourous work out. You will feel the burn within and sweat out the energy, after a few weeks you will see all the fat melt off. It really works, but you need to work out. Do not drink this drink in the late afternoon, because you will have a hard time going to sleep. Red Line needs to go through your system.

I love this stuff it gets me amped to go ride bmx and there is no crash... you drink it i usually just slam the bottle and im fine with it i get a little shakey but thats fine with me(probably not good but...) and it says to drink half the bottle to test your tollerence i guess i have a high tollerence for the stuff but yeah i can ride amazing without being tired or anything for hours... and since i started drinking one of these daily usually around 7-8pm before a sesh i started to get really crazy dreams and i could remember every detail about it... i did some research and i found a few other people that said it caused them to have dreams to when you sleep on it...

Unknown said...

are u f'in serious, it says on the bottle that you should drink only 1/2 the first time, and it's only one case out of so many that this has happened. you people make it seem like it's worse that cocaine maybe not but who knows. I am supporting it or anything, but before you blog about something look at statistics. peace out

Honestly, it's an energy drink people!!!! It's use is to be used before you do train hard!!!! It is not meant to be used as a pick me up like soda, or socially like a red bull. If you've never tried it before, why drink the whole thing when it plainly states that there are 2 servings in one bottle?!?! And for the people that wonder why they have 2 in one bottle....Look at most drinks, they usually have 2 servings in one bottle!!!!
If you use it, and don't utilize the amount of caffine you are putting into your body, you of course will begin to shake and etc.
be smart and learn to read labels and follow directions!!!!

Very sorry for what your friend went through but it is pretty clearly labeled on the side and top of the cap, it contains two servings. Not at all surprised she had such a bad reaction.

I had the drink a couple times along with 3 other friends. We bought it at the local Emerald City smoothie store. We went by the directions and were just fine. We drank half the can to start and then the other half about 2 or 3 hours laterWe also made sure it wasn't on an empty stomach.Other then being wide awake, none of us had problems. Everyone's bodies are different so FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. It probably will make some people sick, just like mcdonalds burgers make my moms stomach messed up, but does that mean they should discontinue the cheeseburger? No, just don't eat processed meats if you know that.

Oh yea, and FYI. If you have ADD or ADHD, drinks like this effect the body and brain stimulation differently then others. No matter you're on a pill or not.

In my opinion, Redline is one that should be more restricted than what it is. All the other energy drinks I've tried were classified as "Crack in a can". (Full Throttle, No Fear, etc.) All of my co-workers would use such drinks to get through a very physically demanding job overnight. However, one co-worker I knew was using Redline.

He never bragged about it, or encouraged others to use it. But it was known to be effective, as well as expensive. The first time I tried it, I didn't notice anything right away, until I actually started performing physical labor. From then on, it felt like I was on steroids.

I went through four different mood swings. I went from feeling great initially, to feeling like I could run through a wall, to being aggressive, to falling into a full blown depression. Physically I was sore, but mentally I was on empty. I stopped using it after 2 days. I do deal with ADHD, and it has been suggested there may be a bipolar component to those who deal with ADHD. If that is true, then it's highly advisable for those with any hint of a mood disorder to steer clear of this stuff. I really feel the FDA needs to step in on this industry before more people start showing up dead.

roboman said...

wow so yeah if you read the bottle it says to drink half. also these "energy drink experts" who claim to have almost died from one, i am by know means an "expert" but in the past 4 days i have had 12 and hey im alive, other than some sweating and more energy the exact same no sickness no convolution. so if you can handle it dont drink the whole thing. if you can handle it go after it.

Hello all,

It's a shame that everyone is having a bad experience with these products, which in theory are supposed to help. I have been using Verve!, an energy drink that is actually chock full of vitamins, minerals and other things good for you. No shakes, no crash, and a health boost. Go to www.verveok.com, read up about it, and if you want to try it, there is a money back guarantee. I have been using the Verve! and VEMMA products since April and have NOT had any sinus or viral infections (and I travel all the time). Please check it out, and I apologize for the pitch, but this stuff is good for you, and teens who are athletic or those who don't get out as much... That's my youngest on the site. He loves the VEMMA, and my oldest loves the Verve! (in small amounts...)

I've tried them all, from Redbull, full throtle, NOS, Monster, Rockstar, and Redline. As with any of the other drinks that are out there Redline comes with warning we've all seen them. Do not use if you are senstive to caffine, pregnant, do not give to children, and so on. But the part that is on every label is this CONSUME RESPONSIBLY! If you're an idiot and want to cause some damage to yourself then go ahead but don't balme the company. If your friend was to kill themself with a gun would you sue Smith and Wesson? No! If your friend was to get alcohol poisoning would you sue Miller? No! So there you go.
I'm a waiter and there are a bunch of days where I'm up working 12-14 hours, so I'll grab a Redline because it works. Follow the directions and treat it as medicine becuase it's not a Dr. Pepper you just don't chug it down because it tastes nice.

The Jones Family said...

First of all, it amazes me that people who can't be responsible and READ the labels/warnings are going to complain about a drinks side effects. Lets get real here....if you buy a gallon of vodka and DRINK a gallon of vodka...there are GOING to be side effects. If you buy a Redline and drink the whole thing when it clearly says to only drink 1/2...then there are going to be side effects.

My husband and I have been HUGE fans of Redline for close to 4 years. We don't use it ALL the time...only when we need that pick me up that Redbull can't give you. In our town the only place you can get it is GNC...and EVERY time we go in there...they remind us to only drink 1/2 the can. LOL...too bad they know us by name now! I use to wait tables and this drink was a GODSEND.

Now...I will say...I had the concentrated syrup...and THAT was a little scary for me...so I just stick with the drink.

It cracks me up that people blame manufacturers when something happens...all because they don't know how to be responsible. Its like smokers who sue tobacco companies when they find out they have lung cancer.

Ugh.

Redline wasn't designed for roadtrips and mixing with your Jagerbombs and however you're tickling your fancies with it.

It was designed to burn fat from your body by speeding your metabolism and causing you to shiver.

I'm surprised how many people put stuff in their bodies without actually trying to find out what they're ingesting.

I will admit, stores like 7-11 shouldn't be placing the drink version of Redline next to the other energy drinks. They don't belong in the same store, actually.

But, Hell. If you bought a can of anything that was half warning label and you "almost died" from it. Wouldn't you blame yourself?

Oh. Wait. I forgot where I lived for a second.

The reactions described above are most likely due to interaction with the yohimbine WHICH IS AN MAOI!!! Very dangerous if you have any other meds in your system...

Miatta said...

Ok... I was introduced to the drink and tried a swallow and it was very sufficient for me. The problem..people need to read. It is so unfortunate that personal responsiblity is always placed on the companies, which in fact has so many warning labels that it is usually scary to even consume the drink itself and would warrant one to think before even buying. Yet, there are those that say " I have a high tolerance for the energy drinks". Well how many of you have read the label of every energy drink and understand that the caffeine content of the other drinks is 80mcg or less. Redline is 300mcg inclinding other ingredients..uhm that is a pretty hefty dose. Stop blaming companies for your irresponsible decisions and choices to burn fat by any means necessary. You take full responsiblity when you purchase diet products, and other products.

Unknown said...

i agree with the last comments..people need to read the label's i drink redline and i've never have had one single issue with it..i drink the whole can too..but in the back says..work your tolerance to it..and it also says start with half a can..i remember it also says if you are over 15 pounds overweight i believe don't take it..right..now how many of you read the label..how many of you did really go by what the bottle says..how many of you do really go by the not for fat people's rule?..don't blame the drink blame yourselves for not being responsible with your own bodies and thinkin..i can drink 7 monsters and nothing happens..don't be stupid and learn how to read

I DID follow the directions on the can of Redline and only had ONE serving, or 1/2 can, and I had irregular heartbeat, nausea, I was shaking, sweating profusely, etc. after only about 20 minutes. Also, I didn't have it on an empty stomach. I had just had a huge dinner beforehand. I think it's pretty sick that there are some people that are so damn dedicated to this drink that they think it should remain on the market, even though it CLEARLY poses a harm to children, and also adults. If you want your precious energy drink so bad, then you could probably order it online with some sort of age-verifying system that would prevent children from getting their hands on it and landing in the hospital. This drink should be pulled off the shelves... NOW.

LOLOLOLOL I laughed so hard when I saw this. I'm still a kid and I had this. (Under 16 for those who need to know.) I got some with my friend. He chugged it and he was FINE. I have it and I'M FINE. I lost 6 pounds in like 2 days b/c of it and not doing sh1t. But really I have a high energy/sugar tolerance. So don't do it if you don't. (I have Nitro 2 Go instant energy mixed with other energy drinks as a drink. And so you know I use the whole thing and it's stronger then an EXTRA STRENGTH bottle of 5 hour energy. 2300mg of energy.) It's really cool. But that's not the point. I have like 2 strikes, under 18, and I'm a little bit overweight. I have been fine. It just seems to vary by who you are. I think that's a bit odd, but if it helps it helps. I've never felt chills, but then again I spend winter in short sleeves and usually shorts.

Unknown said...

hi, im ATM's friend and everything he said is true, im 15 and i chugged the whole bottle (both servings) on an empty stomach...i was fine, not even an accelerated heart rate those of you that suffer from horrible side effects probably have some sort of allergy to one of the chemicals in the drink because everyone else seems fine. Honestly, i once created a drink called quickstep with ATM and it basically consisted of a 16 oz. vault mixed with energy shots(the kind you can get at wawa.) i honestly don't think redline can get worse than that i mean, i had one crazy irregular heart beat...it was all over the place so in conclusion i think that if you so choose, you should not be afraid to drink redline whatsoever.

To you weight loss nuts... I lost 13 pounds in 2 days on about 1 bottle for experimental purposes. WHAT THE FVCK IS IN THIS STUFF?

arsenic, anthrax, cyanide, all the good stuff

Yeah, the people who had a problem with this stuff either didn't follow the directions or are sensitive to stimulants or something b/c I just had some and it's great.

It gave me this "afterglow" kinda buzz like I just had sex all night long. And, I feel really warm so my metabolism is certainly speeding up.

that moron shouldnt have tried a redline. i drank 2 a day when i have them and i dont get all sick. if this really did all that to the person than they shouldnt have been drinking ANY sort of energy drink WHATSOEVER
Redlines are the strongest and the hardest hitting energy drink in my opinion. and if u want something slightly less potent than Redline then drink an Engage. theyre half the price of Redline EXTREMEs and have a uppy kinda feeling to them.

ps. dont drink the whole damn bottle the first time you idiot.

This stuff isn't bad if you have issues with all the sugar-filled energy drinks that wreck your teeth and send you into a diabetic coma. However, I only take about one mouthful of this stuff every few hours. Works really well, no crash at the end.

Whoever wrote this blog is an idiot. And James is a super idiot. You used 4-5 SERVINGS A DAY, so of course you had problems with it. Why would you tell others not to use it? Why not just say, "Use it responsibly"? I would just like to let you all know that I read blogs and forums all the time, but I have NEVER EVER posted any comments, on any site, until I read Retard James' comment. After reading his extremely ignorant comment, I felt compelled to create a Google account, just so I could write this.

Nicole said...

2 things came to mind after reading this blog.

one the problem with blogs is that anyone can copy and paste information into a blog and use it as propaganda to support ones point of view regardless of how inaccurate it is.

5HTP- is a precursor to serotonin - you take 5-htp the body converts it to tryptophan, the same thing your body gets from turkey, and then it's converted to serotonin. should turkey not be available over the counter either? they sell 5htp over the counter and a number of stores- its a health supplement. you would have to take regular doses of 5htp every day for weeks to notice any effects. and the most likely effect would be less depression, better mood. whats the problem? the only time there would be an issue is if you're on an ssri, and if that were the case you probably shouldn't be drinking energy drinks in the first place.

2: Whatever happened to being personally responsible. just because something is available to buy doesn't mean you don;t have to be responsible about how you consume it. Liquor is sold throughout the world, but when someone gets drunk and kills them self and/or others in a car accident, we don't hold the distillery or the store that sold it to them responsible do we? why should energy drink manufacturers be any different?

Brandon Lipson said...

Had to make one more comment after reading someone's comment a little bit above. You claimed to being shaking, seating, etc. even though you drank the recommended 1/2 a can. Well if you know of what is in the product, and what it is supposed to do, it is supposed to make your body shake and sweat to up your metabolism and burn off of....You're having a problem with this product doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing....
Also, it shouldn't pose a harm to kids, because, kids should not be allowed to buy this product. I get mine at wal-mart, and I always have to show id to verify my age....And if a kid does get it, just like with cigaretts, decide to ignore the warning labels on them, then basically, if they are stupid enough to do it still, oh well....They will have to deal with those consequences.

I regularly drink redline. But i only have one in the morning and usually only before i work a 10 shift or i workout.

about half of the bottle is a warning label that covers everything from rapid heart beat to prostate enlargement.

the key thing to any form of energy supplement is responsibility.

there is nothing wrong with redline. the only people that i have ever met that have had a problem with it are those who are unhealthy or inactive. This drink, like alcohol or other chemicals is weight dependent. If you are a 115 pound teenage girl, i don't recommend having more then a third of a bottle every 4 hours or so. You also must be active when drinking this. If you drink this and just sit on your couch for the rest of the day, first off you are not healthy/intelligent and second, that is not what the drink was meant for. redline is an energy supplement and weight loss supplement.

I personally am a 175 pound healthy guy that is very active. I only drink redline before a work out or a long shift.

I have NEVER ONCE had a problem. I occasionally become a little jittery, but any energy drink will do that.

Just like alcohol, the key to Redline is RESPONSIBILITY and common sense.

tim buwalda said...

listen, she did not follow instructions, so stop blaming the product. this has become a society that blames everyone else first, when they have not taken care of themselves. i drink these, for marathon runs and weight loss. if you follow the instructions and eat, only drink half the bottle, you will be fine and get the benefits that you are buying the product for. you and your friend should stop whining and read the bottle. oh, and there are multiple servings in most products you drink (coke, pepsi, etc.).

Unknown said...

I don't really know what the concern is. I don't drink coffee but do drink tea. I was intrigued by the product after seeing it on the shelf at GNC. I bought a pack of 4 to give it a try. I'm 39, 6'0" and weigh 195 I had a pretty big breakfast and drank half (1 serving) at 9:30 am - I felt fine hours later. I didn't feel anything different and I've had energy drinks that give me the jitters.
I drank the next serving after lunch the same day around 2pm and felt fine the rest of the day and slept well that night.

I'm sure if some moron chugged 2 bottles of it on an empty stomach they would be sick just as if they chugged 2 cans of Coke or Beer.

Use common sense folks. This stuff isn't all that potent if taken as they recommend like I and several others did. I liked the taste, not carbonated lor bitter ike most other energy drinks taste. Plus, how do you not see the writing on the top of the cap?!?

leroy_judas said...

Ok so i tried this stuff a while ago and had a really bad experience. you know, really sick, sweaty and lots of abdominal pain. It was recommended to me by a friend who's totally into the stuff. But, a day ago I tried it again and had a REALLY good experience. I felt full of energy throughout the entire day after drinking a bottle for breakfast, nothing extra to dilute it. I wasn't a big caffeine drinker until then but WOW. I swear to god i felt like I could punch through walls. Plus everything was more vibrant and others commented that I was in a much better mood throughout the day. This being the case I have nothing bad to say about Redline. I have burned fat with the stuff and I don't even work out. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who are super adverse to it but for those that it works for, I say go for it

If you're some psychosomatic hypochondriac whiny crybaby then just take little baby sips like the baby you are. If you're a man and want peak performance then CHUG dat.

Honestly, everyone reacts to the ingredients differently. It has nothing to do with 'being a man' (HAHAH) but on body chemistry and past exposure to stims. If you don't follow the directions on the can or are stupid about it, of COURSE bad things are more likely to happen as it is basically the strongest energy drink out there. I hate it when people complain about this shit- it's not up to the gvernment or companies that want to sell the product to protect you....You have to be smart and THINK- read the label and understand what you're taking before you consume something. I work in the health and supplement industry and I know first hand that there are -LEGAL- products out there that can do physical damage. IMO moderation is the key for REDLINE as with other stims or supps that alter alertness or H's in any way!

It's probably too late to comment on this, but quoting WIKIPEDIA as a source for something is pretty ridiculous considering it's hardly the most reliable source.

Especially when you misquote it. Quoting the bits about how cAMP (cyclic adenosine monophosphate) is oooh so dangerous tells me that you clearly didn't read what you quoted or didn't understand it. It's not a chemical that "messes" with brain chemistry. It's a completely natural molecule that occurs in the body, is function specific and is necessary for cellular functions aka you probably wouldn't be alive without them.

Now, CAFFEINE actually is a chemical that messes with brain chemistry and isn't found naturally in the body and is, as I'm sure you know, found in countless products and energy drinks out there, many of which are consumed with nary a second thought.

You really need to take down the cAMP section there lest you continue looking like an over-dramatic idiot.

I drink Redline often, I work out and hike a few times weekly and work overnight 6 8 hour shifts a week. I've experienced no adverse effects. The drink gives you energy, and increases your attentiveness. It says right on the bottle that it contains two servings and provides a detailed warning label, what more do you want? If you don't like Redline, don't drink it! Moreover, stay out of other peoples business this drink is completely safe. Let's invest this much effort into tackling poverty, disease, war, and basic human rights, freedoms, and equalities.

My boyfriend, very fit active guy, drank only half a can of redline two days ago (not on an empty stomach) before working a load shift to give him a little extra energy, and has been vomiting, defecating water, and miserable with intense stomach pains. He's not overly sensitive to any foods and he drinks red bull about four times a week so it's not like he has a super low tolerance to energy enhancements, but this stuff is poison.

i have also been getting anxiety attacks all day and it feels like i took a hit of crystal meth at 2 instead of something i bought at the liquor store, im still jittering occassionally and everytime i try to go to sleep i jitter and my mind races and i get anxiety about stuff in my life that doesnt even matter
i know i did wrong on drinking the whole thing, but i just wrote this to second that this is one hell of an energy drink and is not to be messed with

To start off, I'm 15 years old.

I've drunk redline many many times before.Drinking double the recomendation, Combining it with coffee, and two servings of NOS energy drink, and I have never been sick off of it.

Even at extremely high doses.
I Drank two one after the other and had no problems.

The effects are similar to drinking a bit too much coffee.

The jitters, lots of energy, and not having much of an apetite.

Even misusing thi product very heavily, I have not encountered any of these insane "sick for 10 hours" effects.

I am a fat 250# 5'4" man with sedentary life style. I take lisinopril for my high blood pressure. Would just like to say I have used the recommended serving of 1/2 can of redline and have had no adverse side effects. I feel a little bit wired and have extra energy for a few hours that's it. I do not drink coffee and have low resistance to caffeine. I find that redline is much better than the other energy drinks such as monster and rockstar that generally leave me feeling not so good. I have also taken it on an empty stomache and that seems to not matter, at least to me. It seems like if you are a normal average weight human for your size this could probably pack quite a punch so don't be a retard when you take it and if you aren't young and in great shape, working out after drinking it will probably not make you feel good about this drink. Also drinking Alcohol is well documented in raising your heart rate, so combining this with it seems like a recipe for problems. Be smart if you are able to, otherwise, well, evolution will take it's course and weed you out.

This is the greatest energy drink ever made. How dare you try and get it pulled from the shelves due to an inability to follow directions. Here is an Idea don't buy it. Someone who can not read a label is in no position to regulate products for people that can.

omrsafetyo said...

I drink red line all the time. When I first tried it, I read the label and noted that it advised taking only half of the bottle the first time you try it until you determine your sensitivity. Of my own accord, I decided to neglect the warnings and drank the whole bottle. Like other athletes here, I noticed improved performance in the gym, with no horrible side effects.

Just now I have taken a (whole bottle of) red line about 15 minutes ago - and sitting here testing my heart rate, its around 68 bpm - around average.

If you burn your mouth on a hot coffee that has warnings all over it, you take responsibility for your action. If you consume an entire bottle of redline when the bottle makes it VERY apparent that you shouldn't your first time - you take the responsibility. Quit whining.

Unknown said...

Everyone's bodies handle different things differently. Being responsible and ensuring you use something in the correct dosage, and that it will not negatively affect you are the most important things you can do.

I'm a very petite person, don't work out at a gym, but have good muscle tone. I don't drink coffee very often (maybe 2x per week), I don't take energy pills, or any medications or other drugs unless I have to.

Someone suggested this as a hangover cure, I took on an empty stomach, and I felt like GOLD. Absolutely NO side effects , ESPECIALLY interesting considering you would expect worse side effects when coupled with a hangover (extreme sun exposure on a beach), and an empty stomach.

Don't hate on products because you're irresponsibly using them is all I'm saying...

The majority of the bloggers on this site are proof of a couple of things. First, most of these writers do not understand the effects of stimulant combinations, natural, manufactured, or both on their body. While some individuals get wired on a 6oz cup of tea, others can drink coffee all day and have no problem taking a nap or falling asleep at anytime. Second, the education system in this country has failed so terribly that it teaches entitlement vs. actual common sense skills. These negative posts are by those that DID NOT RTFL (read TF label!) because they are beyond such trivial tasks that may teach them how to properly use any product. My 6 year old thinks she knows everything too which is why she is so dangerous to herself. You don't go picking wild mushrooms to eat without reading / researching what you're looking for. Why? Because it can kill you! Wake up people. While it is true that many people are educated beyond their intelligence, most don't have any excuse for stupidity. So figure your body's limits when trying any new product by practicing moderation and FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS and be included among the reasonably intelligent. The rest of you, well I understand "Jack@ss the Sequel" is looking for fresh faces.

Seriously guys, this Redline stuff is terrible for you. I took some yesterday, the highest recommended dose written on the label because I am used to taking multiple dietary supplements and sports nutrition capsules. Ever since taking this Redline in capsule form, I have not stopped shaking, have had a very elevated heart rate and am currently still dealing with such. This product is not something to play around with. It is no longer recommended by me. Gives a great boost to your workout, but will also give you a great concern for your health. So, buyer beware!

plus i bet most of you didnt take this drink to work out or to lose weight.... prob sitting in school tired and took it at lunch or at your cube tired at work thought it would keep you up... stop bashing the energy drink you bought it blame yourself if you cant handle it.

Its not the drink its the consumer. As a regular user of the full size bottles and the energy shots i can tell you they are perfectly safe. Though not recomended once, once your use to them you can down a bottle with no adverse side affects. I usually down a bottle on the weekends before i skate to hype me up some. So if you had a bad reaction maybe you should take a smaller dose (as in the recommended amount of 3 caps) or go see a doctor. Either way you shouldnt blame the company because of one bad incident that is more user error then manufactuer error. P.S. i love these thinks cause unlike energy drinks like AMP, Red Bull and Monster REDLINE ACTUALLY WORKS!!!

Honestly this drink is not for everyone but its ok for those woh are using it correctly. Whats failed to be mentioned here is this is not a energy drink its a weight loss supplement. For some reason it doesnt effect those who eat correctly and keep in shape. I worked at General Nutrition Center for over a year I use this myself up to three times a day. I have no bad side effects from it. I have had up to 6 in 2 hours before making mixed drinks with it and nothing happened. You just need to know if this is something YOU should be using and be careful with it.

Use as directed, anyone taking any kind of supplement should always use as directed. If you are consuming an energy drink, then it is wise to assume that you will be ingesting supplements which should be... used as directed. It doesn't take a chemist to understand that when one consumes supplements, especially with the bottle tagged...MOOD,ENERGY,FATLOSS MATRIX...one must realize that the supplements they are consuming are probably precursors to different hormones in the body relating to metabolism and brain chemistry. Be informed about what you ingest! Why would one hold another responsible for what they alone choose to ingest, especially if directions were ignored? Ignorance is not an excuse and responsibility for ones' own self is not an option.

You should probably do a little more research before trying to "inform" the community. Redline is very powerful and I would agree that non-tolerant users should take care. However, your criticism of "5-HTP" and "cAMP" is quite unfounded. Studies have concluded that "5-HT" and its precursor "5-HTP" are extremely bad at crossing the blood brain barrier. Most likely, any effects noticed have absolutely nothing to do with this serotonin precursor. Also, "cAMP" is the cyclic analogue to AMP, the main fuel for cells. cAMP is currently active in intracellular signal cascades everywhere in your body. So don't go around stating random literature on cAMP's role in carcinoma formation...blah, blah, blah. It's misinformation at its finest. I'm not saying that Redline is safe, just saying you don't know what youre talking about with regards to your ingredient research.

I had this Redline drink tonight and went to the gym after about 30 minutes of workingout .... i got the worst headach ever i thought i was gonna die i did not know what was happening to me ... since i don't usually get headachs. i though i was having a stoke this worried me.

I did not drink the entire bottle i only drank a quarter of it so then i decide to read more about it cause i was told its better than Redbull.

I guess with my experiance i dont like the feeling i had it was scary for me since i didnt know what i should have done i felt like i was dieing so i wont be buying this drink anymore.

Sharm. :(

Although i had been taking reline drinks for over a year and have not experienced any problems as far as chills or vomiting. I have developed a problem with my stomach where i constantly feel blaoated and uncomfotable. My doctor said that it could be from the drink and taking them without food for so long. But there is no real way to be sure. So just beware.

Also, this is probably one of those things intended for "Active Usage."
Meaning you are not supposed to drink it and go drive around town, or watch TV. Be active, go for a jog, if your body's heart rate is at rest and you plug it into something like this of course there will be adverse effects. Your body needs to compensate for all the energy its getting all at once. Go for a jog, or ride a bike. Your dog is just as fat as you are, Go outside!
lol

It says right on the bottle that you should not drink the whole bottle in one day numb nuts. Even if you're not a light weight with energy drinks. It's meant to be incredibly intense but if you obey the warning label you will be fine. Just don't be stupid. Chugging it is what can kill you.

Anonymous said...

Btw most all energy drinks come in cans with more than 1 serving. 8 oz redbull is the only one I have seen with 1 serving.

Moral of the story, read the label of any drug containing product before you drink it.

You wouldn't chug a whole bottle of cough syrup without reading the label, so why would you put a shit load of stimulants in your body without reading the label.

I responsibly drink redline as a OTC alternative to a.d.d. and asthma medicine.

Im a truck driver and i drink 2 FULL bottles a day and have the best energy ever it does do what the label says and burns the fat away just like it says but the first time i used it i FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS and only took half of it unlike this dumb broud who i guess cant read and thats why someone else had to make this stupied ass site for her

This drink is powerful no doubt about it. As every supplement in USA there is no need for FDA approval but the manufacturer would be insan to put something that is going to immediatelly kill you. All these ingridients that are known to somehow enhance your performance for a short period of time have noot been tested fr long term effects. Besides all this I think it is ultimately our responsibility to watch out what we take. To take 2 servings at once, from a bottle that has clear warning not to it is Insane. So or all others that are out there to try red line in any form, be careful and follow the instructions, they are there fora reason.

Seems like the effects that I had after having 16 shots of espresso. I was writing a response to an RFP one night at a coffee shop and because they were shocked, they just gave it all to me for free after the first four shots. It took me an hour then I went home and continued my document. twenty minutes later I needed to pee, so I got up and realized that I couldn't stay standing, my heart was racing, I couldn't feel my legs and the world was spinning...

About two hours later I felt okay enough to go to sleep and not be worried for my safety

you guys are just noobs. i had my first one today about 7 hours ago. i drank all of it at once. it didnt do shit. i feel fine and it didnt even give me energy. and you dont have to be 18 cuz its a hardcore energy drink u have to be 18 cuz it has dietary supplements in it. its a fat burner. noobs and if u got really sick then i doubt it was from the drink.

Unknown said...

Hi!

Yes, this is a VERY potent drink, but it does say "2 servings per can."

This drink is ok when taken right. Eat with it, and DO NOT exceed more than 1 serving within 24 hours, and you'll be happy with the results. There are some different things in the mix, but all okay as long as they are NOT TAKEN IN EXCESS! If you are on antidepressants, benzodiazepines, or muscle relaxers, you definitely should NOT be taking more than 1 serving a day, as it has 5-HTP, the prime natural ingredient in all antidepressants (chemically altered of course when in antidepressants like Paxil or Prozac for instance)! This can cause a condition called serotonin syndrome, which is lethal when not treated immediately.

As with any supplement or drug, use as directed, and do not exceed the recommended dose, of HALF A BOTTLE A DAY!

Redalin said...

Most of you people are freaking idiots. It says CLEARLY on the bottle there are TWO servings, and recommends to only drink ONE HALF a day. All you morons drinking the entire thing and complaining it's causing issues need to be shot for being so fucking stupid.

5-HTP is for serotonin production, and has no adverse effects on you. There is NO illegal drugs in this drink, everything in it is legal! Just because your stupid friends drank too much of it doesn't mean it has to be yanked from shelves. Instead, smack them upside the face with a shovel.

I love the redline energy drink. I drink a bottle at a time probably twice a week and have never had any negative symptoms. No nausea, heart palpitations or anything. I love RedLine and I actually buy Redline Extreme now and still only positive results. You need to remember that every person reacts differently to energy drinks, vitamins, medications, etc.. this is obviously something that you should try in a small dose first and see how it effects you. The first time I drank it I started with half the bottle and I felt great. Once I knew it didn't effect me negatively I tried the full bottle the next time and again had no negative results only positive ones. Love it, Love it, Love it and I am a 5'5' 115 pound female!!!!

Some people are pussy's and cant handle this stuff.. And yes they shouldn't drink it.. I personally can drink three of these in the morning and feel fine all day. Thats a bit excessive I know, And its not a regular routine.

Some peoples poor gene pools make them venerable to stimulants.

The Groom to be :) said...

wow, I had one of these yesterday. It did absolutely NOTHING. I drink a Monster Energy drink at least once a day, so I figured my tolerance was up enough to handle this. I was right! This was either the smoothest energy drink I've ever had, or it did absolutely NOTHING.

Reading all these "horror" stories leads me to believe they are either FALSE or people are in terrible health already and shouldn't be drinking this stuff.

In my opinion I think all these poeple need to start reading the labels on things. It clearly states on the bottle that it's POTENT. Drink half the can once, the rest later. It's not rocket science. Everyone getting sick sounds like the all drank the whole can at once, or evem more. Your body's probably having a flush. Duh

Unknown said...

i agree with a lot of the comments how she did not follow the directions. however, i also agree that getting that sick is terrible and i feel bad for her. i tried it once and followed the directions (even though i've had A LOT of energy drinks by many different brands and i'm also a big guy, 6'2'' 240lbs) and had great results. it gave me the nice buzz and energy that i would expect from this kind of energy drink. i did read the label and it also said do not drink on an empty stomach for possible nausea and vomiting. did she drink it on an empty stomach? if so, that might have also made her sickness even worse. glad she made it okay after the ordeal though.

anyways, just to correct something you mentioned in the post, so more people don't make these mistakes, almost all of the energy drinks that i have ever tried are MORE than 1 serving per can. ONLY 5 hour and those little shots are normally 1 serving. take a look at your normal monsters, redbull, amp, vitamin water energy, rockstar, and most other major brands, they're all more than 1 serving per can just FYI.

Anonymous said...

If you drink the entire can you are a moron who can't read. The entire box and bottle have huge warnings even on the top on the lid. OH...and I have seen very few drinks, none of which are soda or energy drinks that are only one serving. Typically they are 2.5. Trying to blame this company for your idiocy is like taking an entire bottle of asprin and then trying to sue. Be responsible for your own actions and stop trying to find someone else to blame. I have drank Redline, as indicated that is, and have had no issues and I am of normal height and weight. If I drink it too late then I have trouble sleeping but that would happen if I had a couple cups of coffee too late also.

Unknown said...

people need to learn to read i mean it has a warning label that not only says not to take it if u are over weight or sensitive to caffeine but it also says to start with half a bottle to check your tolerance as for the idiots that say other energy drinks are a single serving CHECK AGAIN most if not all energy drinks have 2 or more servings per can/bottle REDLINE is a strong energy drink and you only blame your own incompetence if u get sick because you dont follow the directions.....if you dont put on your seat belt and break your neck in an accident are you going to blame them because u didnt follow the directions of driving and put it on? come on people learn to take some responsibility and stop blaming others for your own stupidity.

I totally agree. I've experimented with different energy drinks, not for socializing but for burning calories. It say's "dietary supplement" on the bottle. I haven't had any side effects that were mentioned. Although, I don't think I want to try the Redline Xtreme. I just use it put off the muscle fatigue just a little bit longer in the gym. But as the saying goes: "everything in moderation." You don't have to over do it thinking you can handle it.

All you people that are starting your blogs with addressing people as "losers, cry babies, pussies, and idiots," I think you need to learn how to express yourself in a less immature way. As soon as I read your first sentence of insulting readers, I move on to the next comment and I don't even read what you have to say. I don't need to fill my mind with the negatively that you would like to taint me with.

And for the rest of you that keep saying, "You are only suppose to drink half the bottle, read the directions!".... Well, I just want to let you know, WE GOT IT!!! You don't need to write that anymore. We KNOW you are ONLY suppose to DRINK HALF THE BOTTLE. Okay, you got it?? We got it.

Btw, I drank four sips last night before working out. I got jittery, light headed, rapid heart rate, diarrhea, and a killer headache. I had problems sleeping and had to drink a beer, to help me fall asleep. I normally wouldn't do that but I felt like I needed a downer. Today, I felt weird and even felt like I was going to have an anxiety attack and faint at one point. And I never feel that way!!

i bought this stuff while unsuccefully looking for celsius. the salesperson also warned me to use HALF a bottle first. when i got home, i decided to research it a bit and the 'horror' stories on here nearly scared me to death! was hesitant to try it, but did. half a bottle...then the whole bottle....and i experienced none of the side effects listed here. NONE! and i am not an energy drink user. i can count on one hand how many i have used. i will use redline tho. had a nice energy boost which is what i got it for, and was enough to help me want to do my 30 minute workouts in order to drop a few pounds. i had oatmeal, followed by the drink. i will def continue using this product.

I purchased this drink today and went online to research the drink. Not only does the lid of the dring state Caution: Read entire label before drinking. Contains two servings, but this is also on the both the can and the website!
Recommended Use:
Shake well. Always begin use with one-quarter bottle (2 Ounces) of REDLINE® daily to assess tolerance. Never exceed more than 4ounces per serving or more than one bottle daily. Use the gauge on the bottle to find your ideal dose.
So just like any thermogenic complex you use you start with a smaller amount of the substance then build up tolerance.

Lesson is: always read the label of any supplement you try for the first time!!

Unknown said...

Late in the game here, but on any given Friday night I down a bottle of Redline with a can of Amp as a chaser, and I feel fine. This, however, is because I know my tolerance. Anyone who takes DOUBLE the recommended dose of a product, or mixes said product with alcohol is asking for trouble.

Unknown said...

i tried this stuff once and really really liked it. the only symptom i got was the gitters and my heart rate went up other then that everything was fine. it did some what supress my appitite but then i was still able to eat. i really didnt suffer all the bad side affects that everyone who did take it get. i guess thats because i'm a ex-tweeker so the effects didnt bother me so much, it just reminded me why i quit tweeking in the first place. however, if need be, this would be the only energy drink that i need all the others dont work well enough and i crash too soon and cant get back up again quick enough and their taste and smell make me want to barf. i personally like the redline princess and wont drink anything else.

for people who need a SUPER energy boost, because the energy drinks shots and pills don't work.. this is great.. as long as you don't have a very weak system to it. yes.. it will make you feel like you are tweaking.... it gives you super energy... i have been drinking this every once and a while when i need a big boost of energy... and as long as you FOLLOW the directions on the can.... and know what to expect when it hits you, you will be fine... i have drank a whole can in 5 minutes before and it didn't do anything to me, until i tried it without eating anything before hand.... THAT WAS BAD... i had the shakes so bad that i dropped everything i was trying to eat all over me... other than that...

Unknown said...

I've been drinking Redline on and off for several years now. The worst experience I've had was an elevated heart rate. I had a lot of energy the first time I had it but I was tweaking out because of the stuff. I would say maybe its because I just drink one bottle through the day but even when pounded two back to back, like I said only a rise in heart rate and energy. Maybe its a tolerance thing. =/

Unknown said...

Ive been taking this stuff for a few weeks and had basically none of these effects. The purpose of this drink is to make you shiver in turn burning body fat. Its also going to make you sweat for the same reason. I use it not as a regular energy drink but as a work out supplement. It also clearly states drink half of the container, not the whole bottle. Today i took NoXplode and half a redline and received exactly what the description says. My heart rate on the treadmill was 130 at jogging pace. No difference in the heart rate for me.

Maybe you guys should not be retarded and drink the recommended dosage. In all honesty, if you read the side, it recommends you start with 1/4 of the bottle, not 1/2. 1/2 is just HIGHEST dosage you should have at one time. Instead of just cracking it open and chugging it. Read a little bit and understand that is says ONE BOTTLE IN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS!!!

Anonymous said...

There is warning on the label that says it may cause nausea. I've been drinking Redline for about a year now and have had nothing of this sort happen to me.
Of course some people are going to have an adverse side-effect...that goes for just about anything.
I agree with Doug, too. People don't freakin read labels and then get sick and blame the company. Thus, ridiculous law suits are born.
So, moral of the story, read the label. ALWAYS. Read the label.

deadgrlsuppastar said...

I don't feel sorry for your friend or anyone else who has had a bad reaction. The lid to Redline says read warning carefully before drinking. And if you can't read it there is something wrong with you.

I down 2 bottles a day, which technically is 4 servings w/o any adverse reactions. But then again I only drank 1 quarter bottle and then weened my self up to two bottles so...

Its kind of like eating at MC DONALDS don't blame them because you are fat, you are the one who was lazy didn't want to cook and ate fatty foods, because Mc Donalds wouldnt cause you to become fat if you ate it only once in a while..

My two cents

I just started drinking RedLine daily and by drink I mean chugging a week ago. I ONLY drink the RedLine Extreme and sometimes feel nothing at all because I have a high tolerance. I take 30mlg of adderoll with 2 or something more servings of Redline daily... hahah.. I read EVERYTHING on the bottle before I ever used it. I love RedLine and will definitely continue to use it.. But is it bad if I do drink it on adderoll? When I am on my adderoll I will only consume 1 bottle... when I dont take it I will definitely have to drink 2 bottles to get through the day. I am 22yrs old very active and I weigh 113 lbs. What do you all think?

bowler6788 said...

Not that I'm saying this can't be a dangerous drink, but if you're going to criticize Red Line because of an incident that was admittedly by misuse, well then you should hate Red Bull, Amp, and all the others. All of the energy drinks out there are safe in moderation. So saying its dangerous because someone drank too much of it, well then none of the other drinks should be on shelves by your standards too. Just saying that its a bit hypocritical to single out Redline.

Exodus said...

You people are retarded. The can says 2 effin' servings. Multiple servings can be found on EVERYTHING from coca-cola to water. Your friend FAILED to read the advisories and warnings... he doesn't seem very competant. Aside from the fact that everyone here is saying "OMG THIS STUFF HAS TOO MUCH VITAMIN C IN IT", you guys are the most retarded people in the world; and i'll tell you why. Vitamin C in this form (drink) is WATER soluable NOT FAT, thus all the nutriants that your body doesn't need are PEED OUT. As far as the dangerous "brain altering chemicals" what the hell do you people think caffine or sugar is? Caffine can change around your brain chemistry to NEED it causing people to go into withdrawal with SEVERE headaches. So next time you people think that a energy drink is the cause of all evil, maybe you guys should look in the mirror and say to yourself "Am I stupid?" because apparently you guys can't follow instructions; natural selection should of happened to you guys a LONG time ago.

I'm under 18 so I should not have touched a redline either way but my friend drank one also and the effects weren't as bad as everyone is saying. I mean yeah, you go completely insane and when you lay down you can see your heart beating like 90 miles an hour and I can hardly remember the whole night bit I didn't get sick or anything. I'll admit it though, I'll never touch one again. We still had so much energy that at 8 in the morning we went and ran around town. Although the rush was amazing, the hot flashes, sweating, and head aches weren't worth it.

Happy Mommy said...

You should not consume this beverage! It is extremely dangerous! The dosage of caffeine is more than anyone should take at one time! The label is so misleading! You are actually getting double the dose of caffeine which raises your heartbeat too quickly!! This is even more dangerous if you have an unknown heart defect or other underlying symptom.

My boyfriend drank this drink regularly and he ended up in the hospital! We are filing a class action lawsuit with Howard Rubinstein (howardr@pdq.net). If you have purchased and used this product, then you may also file a claim. Just send him an email or call him at 832-715-2788.

You should also try exceeding the recommended amount of Ibuprofen, then complain to the stores that sell the product, and the company itself, that you became sick after deciding to not adhere the directions on the product.

Get real. You are a moron for not reading directions, the directions are there for a reason.

Anything is unhealthy if you do have an abnormal amount of it.

Including water, sugar, salt.

What is dangerous is foolish people like yourself that do not follow things that are common sense to any normal human being.

I guess Im a special case. After having gone though so many energy drinks and even seeing a few people almost go into shock after going though so many energy drinks. I feel that I worked my way up to it. THe first time I had the Red Line, or what my friends call "Flat line" (heartbeat sensor reading), I had fallen asleep after an amp big rig. So I took half a can of this as directed. It worked but was fast acting and gone almost as fast as it took effect.

Then I did the entire bottel I got the effect needed, very very slight shivers. After a few weeks of using this product this effect diminished, so I moved up to 2 bottels in a day. The breaking point for me was 1.5 bottels at once within about 3 hours. At this point I experienced with the lack of sleep (2 days awake) Vision issues where everything seems to move almost in slow motion, extreme heighten sense of awareness. I also gain a large amount of shivers, heightened blood pressure and sweating.

My warning is to take this product seriously. After that day I have yet to take another sip of any energy drink.

Unknown said...

I drink a bottle of redline every morning and have never had any problems whatsoever with it, no increased heart rate, no shivers, no vomiting, barely any noticable effect. If you don't like it don't drink it, but dont classify something as a threat just because your friend cannot follow directions. I recommend this drink to many people and will continue to do so.

Wow, everybody here hasn't heard anything yet! I thought i was thee only one who had experienced the kind of energy that somehow was forged from hell and extracted in ok tasting popsicle juice. I didn't think that the bottle that I have chugged down under a minute had any affect that it had so infamously stated on the bottle. So under an hour I recklessly drank 3 more right after my first. I felt incredibley good at first within the next hour or so, i had a bit of the sweats and a jolt of surging energy, however, the next tuned hours the effects had became adverse t my natural bodily functions. I thought taking this energy drink would be fine seeing since that i have been a football player and wrestler and had power lifted vigosously. I'm a huge guy, weighed 285, benched 400lbs and every lift i had lifted over 300, except for squat press i had reached a little over 400(weak legs lol). So the death feeling symtpoms and experience was the same as the people have described below; extremely jittery, paranoid, naseau, stomache ache/pain, diarrhea, no ability to fall asleep; my hypothyroidism wasn't helping either. These symptoms lasted for a straight week while i toughed it out and hoped to God that this concoction wouldn't redline my heart causing uncontrollable arrhythmia. I was the fool though, not noticing and heeding the warning sign in unusual small letters at the bottom of all the facts. anyways i'm fine now, but the one thing i never want to do in my life is to go through that suicide ever again; people have died on caffeine and energy drink overdose, believe it or not. thanks for tuning in.

Unknown said...

While this is an excelent aritcle written about the cons of this energy drink, it is ridiculously one-sided. I have been drinking Redline for almost a year and I absolutely love it. I have recently switched to the pills, which when you you buy in bulk, lowers the price. It gives me the energy I need throughout the day, at work and at school. It also dramatically improves my workouts. And while I do agree that it can potentially be dangerous, it does have a lengthy warning label describing potential side effects and warning you to only drink HALF the bottle.

KungFuGangsta said...

I'm all for corporate responsibility, and warning about the harsh effects of the drink.

But, as a culture we've gotten to the point where we don't even read the labels of things we put in our bodies anymore, and that's not good.

I had similar effects due to taking the whole bottle in one sitting, but the warning label was there for me to see. I almost always read the labels like a hawk, but I failed to last night until I'd drank 75% of the can.

And yes, it is common and not abnormal for more than one serving per can to be sold. Monster Tall Boys have multiple servings and produce a similar (but not as severe) effect if you drink in one sitting.

The thing is, they put an extremely direct warning on the bottle. Is the company legally obligated to track purchases via 7-11 and then call every buyer immediately to warn them what to do before they drink it?

No, we're obligated to pay more close attention to what we put in our bodies rather than getting excited about the 0 calories and immediately chugging it.

That said, I would NOT recommend this drink.

Your friend most likely was dehydrated & probably took this on an empty stomach. Shame on her for not following the things she most likely knows to do. I'm glad nothing bad happened to her. But take that as a warning. Smarten up. Thank you for sharing your story so others can benefit.

I use this, and have for about a year. While it does have similar side effects like ephedrine, it is not that. I call it my workout crack. If you READ THE LABEL, you will not have the side effects. Don't use it as an energy drink, use before a workout. I have been told by my trainer it is not very good for you, so I have lessened my useage. I used to drink an entire can but now know that the serving size recomended is enough. I sweat more, and I am able to get through a vigorous 2 hour workout three times a week. I recomend protein drinks.
Redline pills work the same way, as to redline princess, extreme and so on. These ENHANCERS are just that. They can be harmful if you abuse them. I would say they can be as harmful as street drugs like cocaine and speed...because the users of street drugs ABUSE them. So if you are safe, redline is in my opinion okay in moderations. ANYTTHING beyond that is stupidity of the consumers. You cannot blame VPX or 7-11 because they are providing a product. It is the consumers responsiblity to read the label.

Unknown said...

ALSO, I am hypothryoid as well. If you heed the warning label, you will function fine. Eat or drink a protein shake or drink before you go to the gym about an hour. Then a lot of water like a liter. Then drink HALF a bottle a half hour before you workout. Just as you do your warm up you will FEEL it, but not feel like dying. I do hope the posters here know that legally if 7-11 or other stores who sell it, the providers such as 7-11 can he help liable for not carding the buyers. VPX on the other hand cannot be. They can tell the retailers to sell it to adults, but it is out of their hands once they buy it from them.
One more side note. If you drink diet coke or sodas with caffine the affect of redline can be worse. JMHO and experience.

I tried Redline at my gym because the manager told me that she had used it, and that it gave her lots of energy.
I drank a whole bottle. My subjective impressions were the following.
It increased my "mental resolve" or "courage" to push more weight, but especially more reps and more sets.
Also, I had just recovered from a respiratory infection and had some lingering bronchitis. The drink profoundly increased my breathing capacity and I believe oxygen uptake was more efficient. Finally, I do complex "pyramids" on an abdominal machine. I found it easier to remember the reps per set, the overall total reps, and at what weights a number of reps were done. At the end of the workout, I wasn't tucking tail and longing for the drive home. Instead, I was trying to find a machine that I hadn't hit yet. I couldn't. Now that I'm at home, I'm cooking beef stew. I haven't had anything to eat all day; even so, I'm not tempted by the cooking odors to eat before supper. I have not had jitters, tachycardia, or anxiety.

If anyone reads this and is thinking about trying one, i have a few suggestions for you. 1. Don't EVER drink the whole can, EVER!!! 2. be sure that if you have the can in your fridge you have it hidden from anyone who doesn't read before drinking. i.e. CHILDREN. 3. Drink it sparingly, i make my can last about 4 or 5 hours, only taking a sip of it when i start feeling like i'm messing up. 5. If coke, coffee, Monster, or any of the other energy drinks with caffeine in it make you jittery, DO NOT drink ANY forms of Redline, including Meltdown. I hope you take what i've said into consideration, as well as what the other's have said too, don't be stupid when it comes to this stuff, it's not something you want to play around with. Thanks for reading.

I have had Redline RTD for years. Used to always get it at GNC for the big dollars. But now it is even available at Walmart. I'm not sure about some of you posting the harsh reactions you've had to this but I loved it. I drank one a day for years. And I have adult ADD. And I take Adderall. It pumps me up like nothing else. I always need it like I need a fix. But to much of your dismay it used to be stronger. Previous to it's Walmart days. About two years ago it became weak in comparison. So I am proof you can survive. But on the other side I am very tolerant to energy drinks and caffeine. At 32 and 5'10 190 lbs I can handle "THE RUSH". However my Dr. Recently did a full blood test workup on me. She advised me to back off the Redline. As to my liver function was elevated. I am not a drinker. And my other prescriptions were not a likely cause. So it lead her to the chemical compounds in Redline. She saw three likely factors in Redline. So now I have shelved it. And I miss it. Two months off. And a few tests later my liver function is better. So it is possible there is some bad stuff there. So please read the warning drink it responsible people. I miss the feeling of Redline greatly. But I'm not dying for the stuff. I'm hopeful I find another culprit but it's possible that I already found it. A few more blood tests and maybe some others and perhaps I'll know. I found this site from a google search and just thought I'd share my story. And btw I've also used Spike in the past. It was ok to me. And also Muscletech's Hydroxycut Hardcore Drink "it has twice the caffeine as Redline and tastes like Koolaid" I loved it! All I know is 5 hour energy just isn't doing it for me. Trying to find something to keep me going. :(

I agree that adults that take this supplement are dumb for not reading the instructions. I was dumb the first time I grabbed one of these and just downed the thing. I experienced the horrible side effects for two days and was very ill. I never stated it was the products fault. HOWEVER, I did contact my gym and ask them to be more vigilant, since my 14 year old son walked in with one the next day and luckily I grabbed it before he consumed it. I asked them to NOT sell these to children under the age of 18. If 7-11 and family-oriented gyms are going to sell these, that's fine, but not to children.

I am a 28 year old female and I won't lie, I love energy drinks. When I found redline I fell in love! But I started to notice something very odd after drinking the supplement. I am in the sun quite a bit and wear sunscreen religiously. Since I started drinking redline, I would get strange red bumps on any skin that was exposed to sun. At first I thought that "no way" could they be related. I continued to drink redline on a pretty regular basis and I continued to see the strange red bumps every time. Finally, I stopped drinking redline to find out if it was the cause. Sure enough, as soon as I stopped the supplement, the bumps never showed up again! As much as I loved the energy rush, I will never drink redline again. Is there anyone else out there with the same experience as me?? Please let me know!! My email is jenniferdaniels27@yahoo.com

You need to read the label and drink responsibly. I have used Redline for over 2 years now, and I actually split a bottle of Redline between 3 visits to the gym. 1/3 of the bottle every time I work out.

If you can't read the label and drink Redline like you drink a Redbull than you are not paying attention.

Energy drinks are not meant to be consumed as a snack. They are serious drinks, and if you have a legitimate use for energy drinks you will most likely know HOW to use energy drinks.

I am appalled at how ignorant many consumers are. If people followed the rules, there would be nothing to complain about.

So I'm a 15 European girl, and I've consumed 2 Spike energy drinks in a total of 6 hours, I didn't need any hospitalization at all, maybe it's just not meant to be for kids of a specific race, or kids who are sensitive to caffeine. I mean Spike isn't even that strong, it made me sort of sleepy. It only gave me a few jitters, and kept me up for an hour or two, but for an all-nighter I had very many yawns, despite the dosage of 2 full spike cans, even though it said to only drink half the can.

Guys...read the ingredients. It contains Yohimbe, which is an MAOI. The folks getting sick are probably eating/drinking/taking meds that should not be taken with MAOI. Don't blame the drink, blame person who does not follow warning labels, and does not understand what the other compounds in the drink are or the side effects they can cause. 5-HTP and Yohimbe bark can be found at ANY grocery store in capsule form, so I don't know why some of you idiots are getting upset that the drink contains them. Bottom line: read the ingredients, and don't ingest anything you're not sure about, and FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS AND WARNINGS.

I hate morons that blame others for their ignorant mistakes.

Ok, this is obviously not an engery drink, it's a weight loss drink for idiots (health freaks).

Qouting Misha:
Info off Redline's own website:
"This freaky scientific breakthrough is the first physique-transforming matrix to coax your body to burn fat through the “shivering response.” It is a physiological fact that when you shiver, your body releases a large amount of stored body fat in an attempt to bring body temperature back to normal. Redline® induces this effect quite efficiently. However, the power of Redline® does not stop there, as its radical combination of novel ingredients will also have you sweating up a thermogenic storm, and thus burning fat through yet another unique mechanism." (end-quote)

It's for health freaks, it shouldn't be sold in stores, maybe GNC, but not 7/11. People by it thinking it's an energy drink. When you're buying normal drinks, servings just mean that that amount of sugar and calories should fit into a normal diet or something like that, people don't look at it and think oh well I should only drink half so I only shiver and sweat, but not nearly die. Where is the FDA, seriously, they are selling death, or at least insanely horrible experiences for people who aren't (and shouldn't be) expecting shivering, sweating, vomiting, and very high heart rates from something from 7/11 or what they presume to be an energy drink poor product placement. It should only be in health stores like GNC near the creatine. Bottom-line: Why are they allowed to sell this in stores like 7/11 near the energy drinks. These idiots probably attempted and successfully passed this by the FDA as an edgy energy drink because I believe it's an ephedrine replacement. I have no experience with any of this so I don't how obvious the warnings are, maybe these people are really idiots but this should definitely not be sold in a 7/11 (but i'm confused cause i just read some more comments where people said it had almost no effect, but the site says it should give u shivers and make u sweat?? whatever)

Why are people getting so hyped up about this product. Yes, it is an intense energy drink/workout supplement and it is one of the very few drinks that require you to be 18 to purchase (At least where I live in Ohio). If you don't like the drink, no one is forcing you to drink it. Some people are capable of handling it and enjoy it from time to time.

People have adverse health effects to products all the time, and I have yet to see a forum of people saying that stores need to stop stocking peanuts for those allergic, or milk to those Lactose Intolerant.

This drink ruined my marriage. My husband drinks at least one bottle a day and it messed up his brain. He is addicted. Drinks nothing but alcohol and redline. He was also doing the HCG diet. He went crazy, had a mid-life crisis, and left his family. I hope anyone else looking for info, finds my comment. I couldn't find anything on redline mixed with other drinks or diets so I have nothing to back up that this drink along other things is dangerous.

I'll go ahead and pass my judgement on this topic. I'm 18 and also diagnosed with ADHD so many people would say I don't even need to be near sugar. But this, out of all the energy drinks, hasn't affected me a single bit. I accidentally drank an entire bottle and had no adverse effects, hell, I didn't even get any energy out of it. Now for the chemicals, 5-HTP and cAMP are definitely not good for you one bit, but this bottle clearly has labeling on it with the ingredients, yet most people just pick it up for the "Ultimate Energy Rush" it provides, completely ignoring the ingredients and warnings. It's people's arrogance that they get the effects they do from this. It's comparable to alcohol, MODERATION. I'm immune to this stuff, but at the same time reading this, I don't recommend this "beverage" to anyone. Even those who feel they need the energy. Just sleep, eat a decent breakfast, and you'll be fine. All in all, don't drink this if you're worried about your life.

Anonymous said...

I drank 6 bottles of Redline in one sitting once, and had an experience much like a cocaine overdose afterward. Now I can't even take one small sip of Redline without vomiting afterward.

I can and do drink huge quantities of any other energy drink (often 15 to 20 "servings" of Rockstar, Amp, Red Bull, Jolt or Monster a day), but Redline will make me sick now.

kraftingforkenya said...

I would suggest that if you need energy you eat well and get plenty of sleep and Not take this type of stuff that has caused some people seizures and heart attacks. I can't even believe they can sell something like this. If it is so dangerous to children why does it not have any child safety mechanism. Also, to those that say it is the drinkers responsibility to read that there is two servings...I don't feel I or most people I know generally read warning labels on a drink sold at a grocery store...shouldn't this be a prescription type thing?

kraftingforkenya said...

Wanted to mention one more thing. I am an RN and just just because one person does not have a bad reaction to a drug does not mean that another person will not have a very bad reaction. The world does not behave in the same way for every person because our chemical make-up is all different. We are all unique. Some people can smoke and drink their whole life and not get cancer, some die young...that does not mean cigarettes do not cause cancer.

Unknown said...

Ok this is all great stuff...BUT have any of you taken a drug test lately?

To my surprise...I tested positive for PCP and meth. I definitely dont do drugs.

I was drinking 1/2 of a BOTTLE a day.

Anonymous said...

Now, this is most likely something normal people should never do, but I chugged a whole Redline about a half hour ago and I feel pretty damn good. No jitters or hyperness, but a good sense of concentration and alertness.

But, that's me, I started drinking energy drinks at 13 and I used to drink 48 ounces of BooKoo at once when I was 15 years old.

xkikichickx said...

I think the important thing to keep in mind with this is to read the label. Of course that itself is somehow difficult for a large amount of people, but I digress. I honestly had no terribly negative side effects. I just noticed I was able to concentrate more easily and work more efficiently. I have low blood pressure (healthy level, not too low) and I am usually colder than usual so the slight increase in body temperature did not bother me. This is definitely not because I have a high tolerance to caffeine, because I do not. I never drink coffee, most energy drinks make me sick, and I rarely even drink soda. I was using 5-hour energy for awhile, but decided not to anymore because even they make me feel somewhat sick eventually,(the 5-hour energy "EXTRA" was too much for me too). I'm 5'2 and 110 pounds and drank half the bottle in the morning before work and then finished it towards the end of my shift. I also have ADD and was reluctant to try it because of the warning but it did not make me more anxious or effect me negatively in any psychological manner. I must add that you should NOT take this even in the same day with other stimulants, especially such as Adderall, and no I did not make the idiot move of testing that out. I will probably only use this for a short term or on occasion because it is not FDA approved and might have long term negative effects on the liver. Nobody is making you take this and if it is that bad for you then wouldn't common sense dictate you not take use it anymore? Every person has their own chemical makeup in their body so it will effect people differently. Just because it is not helpful for some does not mean it should be banned from all. For many this product could potentially do more good than harm. Alcohol definitely does more harm than good in both the short and long term, but it is sold in even more places than this. Common sense is a rare quality these days, and the sense that people should be able to live their own lives rather than be controlled by regulations when not necessary is disappearing along with it.

WOW really come on people if you think this drink is soooooo bad then don't drink it. I have drank it many times and have had no such side effects. The can has a HUGE ass warning label on the side WARNING you of the side effect and who should not take it. If you where so ignorant as to not read the GIANT WARNING label the shame on you. I ask you if in your quest for fitness or even a boost of energy why would you not read the label of something you are about to put in your body.

Hello,
I looked up Redline to see if anyone was having similar problems to me- this is what happened.
I work out almost every day, and for the last two weeks have been drinking ONE serving of Redline Extreme each morning before working out. I have used Redline in the past but not every single day as I just did. Well one morning I realized that my boyfriend and I were just screaming about nothing in particular to each other, all aggressive and shit, and he said "we need to stop drinking redline tomorrow". I agreed reluctantly (i admit I was beginning to get addicted) and we stopped the next day. Well two days went by and then I proceeded to have an anxiety attack that has basically lasted up until now. (five days!) Not a full on panic attack, but CONSTANT anxiety and feeling like Im going crazy, insomnia, difficulty breathing, melancholy, lack of emotion. I am a upbeat, happy person that has never suffered from any kind of anxiety, depression or the likes in my life. Obviously I am assuming that the way I have been feeling is stemming directly from a withdrawal of the chemicals in Redline. Its as though Ive abruptly gone off of a prescription drug or something and Im suffering terrible consequences. I just want it to stop.
I would say this product is OK for once in a while use, but dont start using it everyday, please!

You guys are all a bunch of faggot ass pussies that can't handle your shit. Harness the energy and do great things, instead of being pussy ass bitches typing online about how you can't use a pen or type a keyboard after you drink it. This drink is for people who are intense and are willing to take themselves to the next level, not you average weak minded, brain-washed bastards.

All of the complaints seem to be from people who drank 2 bottles and/or did not follow the directions at all.

Duhh! Why would you just slam a drink that you have never tried without asking questions or reading the entire bottle.

If you are not tolerant to coffee then you need to sip it slowly to find your limit.

Traditional Redline is suppose to cause a feeling of shivers for fat burning. Thats why you feel sweaty but shivery. I prefer the Meltdown, RL extreme, or Redline princess because they do not give you the same jitters or chilly feeling.

The directions and warnings on the bottle are very clear and at most stores you have to show ID that you are 18 or older.

Note* Regular Redline says right one it Freezeand Burn or something similar - hello that means its going to make you shiver.

Bottom line - if you don't like the looks of the warning label call the company and ask around to people who have used it first. If you don't drink much coffee or soda then you are likely to feel jumpy and faint etc... You would have the same side effects and bad experiences if you drank 2-4 cups or more of coffee and then soda all day.

Someone mentioned somewhere about Aderall and how they used that and they were fine but the redline just wiped them out. Well uhh were you on that medication and taking this drink? Even if you weren't all of the above still applys. You start out slow and then build your tolerence.

Again if you do not want to shiver and fell jittery try the meltdown of the redline product line and read the label just like you should.

I just can't believe grown ups don't read the label and follow the warnings or directions? At least if you do that except that it's your fault for being stupid.

Think about all over the counter medications even aspirin. People do get sick and overdose on them all the time. There are potential side effects on everything.

You have to look out for yourself and think before you take anything period!!!!!!!!!

Hope this helps some people.

Ugh, some of you people are complete and total MORONS. Redline was developed for ATHLETES, and it WARNS YOU FAIRLY. I use it for its intended purpose. I drink half a can of the extreme before I hit the gym, and I can power through 4 hours of hard weightlifting with no bad side effects. If you start taking Redline, always start with a quarter of a bottle to gauge your reaction. That's just common (or not so common) sense about any new substance. You idiots try to blame VPX for making a high quality and highly specialized product, but half of you are abusing it to begin with. Stop blaming others and own up to your mistakes.

Derek said...

There is a paragraph long warning on the side and a long list of instructions. You are supposed to drink 4 oz (half bottle) once a day for five days to get your body used to it before drinking a whole one the day of your event (mountain biking races, marathons, iron mans, mountain climbing, bear wrestling, etc). You also are supposed to drink a ton of water.

If you can't follow simple instructions then you shouldn't try things that come with warnings. Stick to sporks, sippy cups, and safety scissors.

Anonymous said...

your all fucking idiots, it says right on the bottle to only drink one serving, and you fucking retards drink the whole thing, if you don't follow the directions, bad things are going to happen, maybe thats why they said only drink one serving, fucktards

Omar/Alan said...

Did no one else notice that the close up of the can is NOT the back of a redline, but the back of a Monster?

cheesewake said...

You don't even need a whole 1 serving. Drink a quarter of the bottle. It still works better than a whole monster or redbull. You guys suck

PowerZombie5000 said...

There is nothing wrong with this product. Everybody that complains about it has been a stupid fuck and takes way more than it says to or takes it on an empty stomach. So you basically deserve to feel like shit if you're too fucking retarded to simply follow the directions it gives you. Stop giving a great product a bad reputation just cause you're mentally challenged.

Love the drink!!! Unfortunatly so much that i have become extremly addicted to it. For the last 6 years i have been drinking at least 1 can a day usually 2 (even an entire 4 pack poured into a Big Gulp on a bet once). Expensive habbit to keep up but REDLINE is my "NZT" from the movie Limitless. Everything becomes more vibrant, all my senses are heightened, i think faster and more clearly, and it forces a perpetual smile. Im sure my life will be shorter because of it but i wouldnt be the same without it.

Muffinkat666 said...

I have been drinking redline for over 4 years and YES if you do not excercise and diet well while taking the drink it might have some side effects, but usually it only happens to people who cannot handle that much caffeine because it has about 157mg of Caffeine per 4oz. But as far as side effects go, when i first had a redline i did have rapid heartbeat, chills, sweat, and so on. So your body basically has to get use to it so starting off with half a bottle would be best for anyone thinking about trying it.

Nicole678 said...

Kinda funny. Everyone talks about this not being an energy drink, and not being something that you should take just to stay awake. I am pretty addicted to caffeine and just started a new work schedule where I work graveyard (11pm-7am), and the have to be in class (45 min from my work) by 9am. Needless to say, I've been worn out. My boyfriend bought me this and warned me that it was intense and to be careful with it. I was and drank half the bottle around 1:30am while and work, and then drank the other half around 4:00am. I hadn't really eaten much either, and I work at a hotel so all i do is sit here all night and do some paper work. I had no problems with this at all. I was awake, and alert and felt amazing! I use redline extreme while at work and nothing has worked as well for me as this stuff.
You do really need to be careful, especially about taking it while taking any kind of other medications, and only take a recommended dose at first to see how it will affect you since different things affect people in totally different ways. But if you do try it and it works as well as it did for me, i say go for it!
I've never done as well at work, or on my class work, as when I starting using this drink!

And btw. Im 5'3" 160lbs, and am not in that great of shape at all, and this has had no bad side effects on me what so ever. You cant go on others experiences, you have to try for yourself and make sure it is safe for you. Dont be stupid.

Nicole678 said...

Oh. and I didn't experience any fast heart beat, any chills or sweating or tremors/shaking or any of that. I was just awake.

Nicole678 said...

Dang im being chatty.. lol
But I just re-read the warning label on this. and it says, near the end 2 things that I again find funny after reading all these posts...

1) The consumer assumes total liability if this product is used in a manner inconsistent with label guidelines

and 2) Do not use for weight reduction!

hahahaha. For all of you talking about how its to lose weight... well at least the one im drinking says not to use it for that lol.
Just thought it was funny.

Tomasg921 said...

Those of you that say its for weight loss, you are half right! This energy drink is meant for those wwo intend to workout shortly or immediately after taking the energy drink. this energy drink works like one of the workout supplements where it increases your metabolism to burn fat as well as increases your blood flow (faster heart rate) to push yourself to workout harder for longer periods of time. This is not intended for your average energy drink kick! Reading the label, you realize this drink is no joke and should always follow directions on warning labels.
